What are affirmations?

Affirmations refer to the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment. They instill a belief that "a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything." An affirmation is a carefully formatted statement that should be repeated to one's self out loud or silently daily. For affirmations to be effective, they need to be in the present tense, positive, personal and specific.

An affirmation works because it has the ability to program your mind into believing the stated concept. This happens because the mind cannot distinguish the difference between what is real or what is fantasy.

Examples of daily affirmations:

I am strong.
I am beautiful.
I am loved.
I am filled with confidence.
I am grateful for another day to shine.

You can make your own affirmations according to what you need or desire in life. In my experience, if the affirmation rhymes it is easier to remember and if not, write it down and read it every day. It is also advisable to write down your affirmation and place it in different places within your home or office where you will see it constantly and you can read it throughout the day.
